Eid Al Adha holidays 2026: Want to go from UAE to Oman via road? Visa, car insurance and border rules explained

## Visa and Entry Requirements

For UAE residents planning a road trip to Oman during Eid Al Adha 2026, a visa on arrival is available, allowing a 14-day stay. If you plan to stay longer, an eVisa is required, which takes about four to five working days to process. The visa on arrival costs 5 OMR, and there is a UAE exit fee of Dh35.

## Car Insurance and Documentation

Ensure your car insurance covers Oman; if not, you can purchase an 'Orange Card' at the border for Dh106. Required documents include a valid Emirates ID, passport, car insurance certificate, driving license, vehicle registration, and, if applicable, a No Objection Certificate for borrowed vehicles.

## Border Crossings

There are five main border crossings from the UAE to Oman: Al Darah, Dibba, Khatmat Milaha, Hatta/Al Wajajah, and Mezyad. Each offers access to different regions of Oman, from Musandam to Salalah.

## Crossing Procedures

At the UAE border, pay the exit fee, then proceed to the Oman border for visa stamping. If needed, purchase car insurance and undergo a vehicle inspection before entering Oman.

## Rental Cars

Driving a rental car to Oman is possible, but ensure the rental company provides insurance coverage for Oman. A notarized No Objection Certificate is required if the car is not registered in your name.
