Nvidia has reported a remarkable 85% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2026, driven by the booming demand for its AI chips. The company earned $58.32 billion, or $2.39 per share, significantly up from $18.78 billion, or 76 cents per share, in the same period last year. Excluding certain items, earnings were $1.76 per share.

## Surpassing Expectations

The company's revenue reached $81.62 billion, surpassing Wall Street's forecast of $78.91 billion. Analysts had anticipated earnings of $1.75 per share, but Nvidia exceeded these expectations, continuing a trend of outperforming market predictions.

## AI Infrastructure Expansion

CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure, describing it as the largest in human history. This growth has been a major factor in Nvidia's success, particularly in the data center sector.

## Rising Costs and Future Outlook

Despite the impressive financial results, Nvidia's operating expenses rose by 49% to $7.75 billion. Looking ahead, the company projects revenue of approximately $91 billion for the next quarter, above the analyst forecast of $87.29 billion.

Following the announcement, Nvidia's stock experienced a slight dip in after-hours trading. The company also revealed plans to return value to shareholders through an $80 billion stock buyback and an increase in its quarterly dividend to 25 cents per share.
