## Concerns Over Working Conditions
The President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a stark warning about the deteriorating working conditions in Bollywood. He emphasized that without immediate reforms, the industry could face a complete shutdown.
## Key Issues Highlighted
The FWICE chief pointed out several critical issues affecting crew members, including delayed payments, reduced job opportunities, and excessively long working hours. These challenges are particularly severe for daily-wage workers on film sets.
## Impact of Industry Changes
The rise of OTT platforms and new content formats like vertical films have increased production demands, further destabilizing job security for workers. This shift has particularly impacted spot boys, light technicians, art directors, and junior artists, who often work long hours without fair compensation.
## Financial Insecurity and Delayed Payments
Many workers face financial insecurity, forcing them to accept unfair working conditions. Delayed payments are common, especially in projects driven by OTT platforms, where funds can take months to arrive.
## Urgent Call for Reforms
The FWICE is actively engaging with workers to understand their grievances and push for better accountability within the industry. The federation warns that if conditions do not improve, the film industry could face severe consequences, potentially leading to a shutdown.
