## Enhanced Public Transport in Sharjah

Sharjah has broadened its Bus on Demand service, now covering additional residential and educational areas. This initiative, launched in June 2025, aims to create a more adaptable public transport network by allowing passengers to book shared bus rides via a mobile app.

## New Areas Added

The latest expansion includes University City, Al Juraina, and Al Nouf, enhancing connectivity with existing areas like Muweilah Commercial and Aljada. This development improves access between residential zones, educational centers, and key destinations across Sharjah.

## Service Features

The service offers real-time journey tracking and estimated arrival times. A flat fare of Dh8 per trip is charged, with a 25% discount for accompanying passengers. The app uses smart routing technology to optimize routes and arrival times.

## Growing Popularity

Since its inception, the service has completed 2,664 trips, serving 2,758 passengers by March 2026. A 24% increase in users during the first quarter of this year highlights its growing acceptance as a daily transport option.

## Strategic Goals

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) emphasizes that this expansion aligns with their smart public transport strategy and supports the UAE's Year of the Family goals by offering safe, convenient, and efficient transport options.
