## Iran's Strong Opposition
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has criticized the US Central Command's (CENTCOM) recent security conference in Bahrain. The summit, which included military leaders from 12 nations, aimed to strengthen regional air defense and secure maritime routes. However, Iran views this as an unwelcome foreign intervention.
## Tehran's Perspective
Araghchi argues that peace in the Middle East should be achieved internally, without Western involvement. He questioned the effectiveness of CENTCOM's presence in the region, suggesting it has not brought security. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, also dismissed the legitimacy of the summit, emphasizing that regional security should be managed by neighboring countries.
## CENTCOM's Objectives
The Bahrain summit, led by Adm. Brad Cooper, focused on ensuring the free flow of commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. Military officials from countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt participated in discussions on enhancing defense collaboration.
## Regional Implications
Iran maintains that the Persian Gulf's security should not be dictated by external forces. The Iranian officials' statements highlight ongoing tensions over foreign military presence in the region and underscore Iran's call for respecting regional sovereignty.
