New data-sharing deal to create 'unified database' of overseas Filipinos

## New Agreement for Overseas Filipinos

The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Commission of Filipinos Overseas (CFO) have entered into a data-sharing agreement to improve support for Filipinos living and working abroad. This initiative aims to create a unified database that will enhance the accuracy and reliability of migration data.

## Enhanced Government Services

The agreement, signed by DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac and CFO Secretary Dante Ang II, seeks to streamline government services for overseas Filipinos (OFs) and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). These groups include permanent residents and those on temporary work assignments abroad, particularly in the Middle East.

## Unified Database

The collaboration will involve exchanging relevant data to develop policies and programs that better address the needs of Filipinos overseas. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed support for this partnership, which aims to cover various areas to ensure the welfare of OFs and OFWs and their families.

## Improved Access and Coordination

The DMW and CFO plan to introduce more streamlined processes and digital systems, making it easier for Filipinos abroad to access government services. This integration is expected to provide more efficient and proactive support, especially for the large Filipino community in the UAE, enhancing coordination between government offices and access to assistance programs.
