## Heavy Traffic in Dubai and Sharjah
As the holy month of Ramadan continues, Friday evening traffic in Dubai and Sharjah has become increasingly congested. Motorists are experiencing significant delays as they head home for iftar, which is expected around 6:19 pm. The hour before sunset is particularly busy, with revised working hours and race-related diversions adding to the pressure on the roads.
## Key Roads Affected
Major highways such as Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road are witnessing long tailbacks. Other affected areas include Al Khaleej Street, Tariq Bin Ziyad Road, and Hessa Street. Internal roads like Al Waha Street and First Al Khail Street are also experiencing bumper-to-bumper traffic. Business Bay and Dubai Media City are facing slow-moving conditions, especially on roads leading to main highways.
## Sharjah Traffic Challenges
In Sharjah, Al Wahda Street in the Al Nahda area is heavily congested, particularly in the Dubai-bound lanes. This stretch is known for being one of the most congested during peak Ramadan hours.
## Additional Delays
Minor accidents in areas such as Riggat Al Buteen and Al Hudaiba are compounding delays. Furthermore, road closures due to the UAE Tour men’s race have affected traffic flow, with closures impacting areas like Dubai Islands and Al Safa.
## Advice for Motorists
Authorities recommend planning journeys in advance and allowing extra travel time. The period before iftar is expected to be the most challenging, with traffic easing after sunset. Drivers are advised to remain patient and prioritize safety during this busy time.
