The resignations come after eight individuals, including Rai's driver, were arrested in connection with the alleged embezzlement. Police have recovered cash, foreign currency, jewelry, and a vehicle from Shukla. They are also examining land purchases and bank accounts linked to the case. Despite the ongoing investigation, no formal charges have been filed against Rai or Mishra.

A significant meeting at the Ram Temple complex discussed the investigation, financial audits, and potential governance reforms. The trust is considering appointing a CEO and enhancing oversight of donations and finances. The investigation continues to draw public attention to the trust's management practices.
