## Introduction Qatar has launched its first smart mosque, the Qais bin Saad bin Ubadah Mosque, in the Muaither area. This initiative is part of the country's broader effort to modernize religious infrastructure using advanced technology and sustainable practices.
## Features and Design The mosque can accommodate 350 worshippers, with a main hall for 300 men and a separate area for 50 women. It features residences for the imam and muezzin, along with integrated service facilities. The mosque's design reflects contemporary architecture while maintaining Islamic identity.
## Sustainable Technology The mosque incorporates smart technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce resource consumption. Solar panels provide clean energy for lighting and air-conditioning, while a water recycling system reuses ablution water for toilets and irrigation. Landscaped areas are designed to minimize carbon emissions, supporting environmental sustainability goals.
## Strategic Vision This project aligns with Qatar's 2025–2030 strategic plan, focusing on upgrading mosque infrastructure and promoting sustainability. It also supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to advance sustainable development and improve quality of life.
## Funding and Future Plans Funded by philanthropist Ayed bin Hassan Junaid Al Obaidi, the mosque highlights the role of charitable endowments in community development. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs plans to develop more smart mosques across Qatar, reflecting successful collaboration with the private sector.
