Rajpal Yadav sentenced to jail in cheque bounce case; Delhi High Court denies probation

## Actor Faces Legal Setback

Rajpal Yadav has been sentenced to three months in jail for each of seven cheque bounce cases by the Delhi High Court. The sentences will run concurrently, allowing him to serve them simultaneously.

## Financial Penalties Imposed

In addition to the jail term, Yadav has been ordered to pay Rs 1.05 crore to the complainant for each case, along with an extra Rs 1.04 crore and Rs 25,000 to the State. His wife, Radha Yadav, is also required to pay Rs 5.51 crore in each case. However, Rs 2.25 crore already deposited by Yadav will be deducted from the total amount due.

## Court Denies Probation

The High Court rejected Yadav's request for probation, citing his repeated breaches of court assurances. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with Yadav's explanations, noting inconsistencies in his statements.

## Background of the Case

The legal issues began in 2010 when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murli Projects Pvt. Ltd. for his film "Ata Pata Laapata." The film's poor performance led to a repayment dispute, resulting in multiple cheque dishonour cases. Despite previous assurances to settle the dues, Yadav failed to comply, leading to his current legal troubles.

## Actor's Perspective

Yadav has argued that the issue is not solely about non-repayment but involves broader principles. He claims the original Rs 5 crore dispute has escalated to losses between Rs 17 and Rs 22 crores, complicating the situation further.
