## SEWA's New Initiatives
The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has unveiled a series of incentives aimed at bolstering the tourism sector in the emirate. These measures are designed to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of tourism businesses, while also improving the investment climate.
## Implementation and Oversight
A dedicated team has been established by SEWA to manage the rollout of these initiatives. This team will conduct field visits to eligible tourism businesses, providing guidance on accessing the benefits and collecting feedback to refine the program.
## Key Incentives
The initiative includes several financial relief measures such as extending bill payment deadlines by an additional month, allowing utility bills to be paid in instalments, and waiving disconnection penalties for three months. Additionally, there are provisions for security deposits to be paid over four instalments for new accounts.
## Additional Benefits
Tourism establishments will benefit from a three-month exemption on engineering plan approval fees and extended utility connection periods without extra charges. There are also measures to freeze service fees for inactive utility meters at hotels and tourism facilities.
## Strategic Vision
These initiatives align with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, aiming to support sustainable development in the tourism sector. The program is closely monitored by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, ensuring its alignment with Sharjah's broader economic goals.
## Future Prospects
SEWA plans to continue collaborating with relevant entities to monitor the program's implementation and evaluate the need for additional incentives. The ultimate goal is to reinforce Sharjah's status as a leading destination for tourism and investment, contributing to the emirate's sustainable economic growth.
