10 killed after small plane crashes in the Bahamas

## Incident Overview

A small aircraft, identified as a Cessna 402, crashed in the Bahamas on Friday, resulting in the deaths of all 10 people on board. The crash occurred in North Andros, an area located west of the capital, Nassau.

## Government Response

Following the crash, the Bahamian government temporarily suspended Flamingo Air flights as a safety measure while investigations are underway. This decision was influenced by two safety incidents involving the airline on the same day.

## Official Statements

Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis expressed deep sorrow, noting the tragedy coincided with the country's 53rd independence anniversary. Initially, there was hope for a survivor, but it was later confirmed that all on board perished.

## Investigation Details

The Bahamian Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority is leading the investigation. The plane had taken off from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, heading to San Andros when the crash occurred.

## Related Safety Concerns

Earlier on Friday, another Flamingo Air plane en route to Mayaguana had to return to Nassau due to a reported issue. After landing safely and passengers deboarding, the aircraft caught fire. This incident is also under investigation.
