Indian passport and visa in UAE: Walk-in rules, agent warning, new booking portal explained

## New Service Management

Since July 1, 2026, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai have taken over passport, visa, and attestation services, previously managed by outsourced agencies. This change follows the expiration of contracts with BLS International and SGIVS Global, and a delay in launching a new single-window system due to legal issues in India.

## Walk-in and Appointment Rules

The Consulate in Dubai has ceased walk-in services, requiring appointments through a new portal. In Abu Dhabi, limited walk-in services are available from 9am to 11am. Priority is given to newborn passport applications and emergency certificates.

## New Booking Portal

Appointments for consular services can be made via book.passportindiauae.com. Slots are released at 8pm for the next working day. Only applicants are allowed entry, except for minors who must be accompanied by both parents.

## Advisory Against Agents

The Embassy warns against unauthorized agents offering to arrange appointments. Official bookings are free, and any issues with agents should be reported to the Embassy or Consulate.

## Processing Volumes and Fees

Currently, over 1,500 applications are processed daily. Passport renewal fees have increased to Dh450, payable in cash.

## Future Developments

The launch of Indian Consular Application Centres by Alhind Tours and Travels LLC is pending legal resolution. These centers promise efficient service with a flat fee of Dh19 per application.
