## Historic Appointment
Dr. Ayesha I. Mian has been elected as the president of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP) for the 2026-2030 term. This marks the first time a Pakistani and a South Asian will lead the organization since its inception in 1937.
## Professional Background
Dr. Mian is an alumna of Aga Khan University and has previously been part of the faculty at the University of Texas and Baylor College of Medicine in the U.S. After returning to Pakistan in 2013, she joined Aga Khan University, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the country's first Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training program.
## Current Role
Currently, Dr. Mian is the Founder and CEO of Synapse – Pakistan Neuroscience Institute. Her work focuses on enhancing mental health care through clinical practice, education, research, and advocacy.
