Saudi Arabia: SR50,000 fine, jail and deportation for visa overstays

## New Penalties for Overstaying Visas

Saudi Arabia has announced severe consequences for expatriates who overstay their visas. The Ministry of Interior has outlined penalties including fines up to SR50,000, imprisonment for up to six months, and deportation. These measures aim to enforce compliance with residency and labor laws.

## Public Cooperation Encouraged

Authorities are urging citizens and residents to report any violations of residency, labor, and border security laws. Reporting can be done via 911 in major cities like Makkah and Riyadh, or 999 in other regions. Public involvement is seen as crucial in supporting these enforcement efforts.

## Recent Enforcement Actions

In a recent crackdown, over 15,400 violators were arrested across the Kingdom between July 2 and 8. This includes individuals violating residency, border security, and labor laws. Additionally, authorities detained people attempting illegal entry or exit from Saudi Arabia.

## Legal Consequences for Facilitators

The ministry has also highlighted that those who facilitate illegal activities, such as transporting or sheltering violators, face severe penalties. These can include up to 15 years in prison, fines reaching SR1 million, and confiscation of property used in these crimes.
