## Actor's Plea to End Hunger Strike
Omi Vaidya, known for his role in the film "3 Idiots," has publicly urged Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, which has reached its 17th day. Wangchuk, an educationist and climate activist, inspired the character Phunsukh Wangdu in the movie.
Vaidya expressed his admiration for Wangchuk's achievements and humility, emphasizing the importance of understanding the issues behind the protest. He stressed that support for Wangchuk should transcend political differences, highlighting the activist's significant contributions.
## Growing Support for Wangchuk
Prominent figures, including actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, writer Arundhati Roy, and economist Jayati Ghosh, have also shown support. They issued a statement appreciating the protesters' dedication but urged them to end the hunger strike for their health and the ongoing struggle.
## Protest Background
The protest, organized by the Cockroach Janta Party, began on June 20, with Wangchuk joining on June 28. It demands the resignation of the Union Education Minister over a NEET-UG paper leak and compensation for affected families. The movement plans a peaceful march to Parliament on July 20.
