UAE launches Global Youth Water Envoys Programme ahead of UN Water Conference

## Initiative Launch

The United Arab Emirates has introduced the Global Youth Water Envoys Programme, aiming to involve young leaders in shaping international water policy. This initiative was announced at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York and is a collaborative effort led by the Arab Youth Center and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

## Programme Details

The programme targets young individuals aged 18 to 35 from various global regions, with a focus on areas facing water scarcity in Africa, the Arab States, and Asia-Pacific. Participants will undergo virtual training from September to November, covering topics like water governance, sustainability, and climate policy. Selected participants will then contribute to discussions at the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, 2026.

## Application Process

Applications are open to young people worldwide who meet the age criteria and have proficiency in English. Candidates should have an interest or experience in fields related to water governance, policy, or sustainability. Participants are expected to complete the programme and promote youth engagement in their communities.

## International Support

The initiative is backed by international organizations such as UNESCO and WaterAid, providing expertise and collaboration opportunities. Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, emphasized the programme's goal to equip youth with the skills needed for global discussions on water security. The Children's Investment Fund Foundation also supports the programme, highlighting its role in training young people to address global water challenges.
