## FAA Restores Boeing's Certification Authority
Boeing has been granted the ability to self-certify its 737 Max and 787 aircraft, following a comprehensive review by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This decision marks a significant step forward for Boeing, which had lost this privilege after two fatal 737 Max crashes linked to software issues.
## Safety Checks and Oversight
Since September, Boeing and the FAA have alternated weekly in conducting mandatory safety checks. The FAA's recent decision comes after determining that Boeing's safety assessments align with those of government inspectors. Despite this change, FAA officials will continue to monitor Boeing's manufacturing processes to identify and address potential defects early.
## Production and Safety Improvements
Boeing has committed to maintaining high safety standards under FAA oversight. The company aims to enhance safety measures while adhering to airworthiness certification requirements. Meanwhile, the FAA has gradually increased the production limit for 737 Max jets, which had been restricted following an incident in January 2024. The production cap has risen from 38 to 47 jets per month.
