A devastating landslide struck Pengshui County in Chongqing, southwest China, on Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals and leaving 34 others unaccounted for. The incident occurred around 9:10 am local time, prompting a massive rescue operation.

## Rescue Efforts Underway

Over 800 rescuers have been deployed to the site to search for survivors. So far, 18 people have been rescued, but eight of them were confirmed dead. The landslide buried parts of a residential and commercial area under rocks and dirt.
