Dubai court orders contractor to pay Dh4.7 million to subcontractor

## Court Ruling

The Dubai Commercial Court has mandated a contractor to pay Dh4.7 million to a subcontractor. This payment covers completed works, scaffolding rental, and compensation, along with a 5% annual legal interest.

## Case Background

The dispute originated from a subcontract signed in February 2024 for work at a Jumeirah Village Circle project. The subcontractor completed the tasks by January 2025, but payments were not made as agreed.

## Expert Findings

An engineering expert determined the subcontractor was owed Dh1.554 million for completed works, Dh1.146 million for scaffolding rental, and Dh2.055 million for the value of unreturned scaffolding.

## Court Decision

The court, ruling in the contractor's absence, accepted the expert's report and ordered the payment. It also ruled out further rental claims post-judgment, as compensation for the scaffolding's value was deemed sufficient.
