The UAE has reported 241 e-scooter accidents over the past four years, with a significant increase in 2025, according to the Ministry of Interior. These incidents have resulted in fatalities, injuries, and property damage.

## Causes and Consequences

Accidents have been attributed to factors such as excessive speed, riders entering motor vehicle roads, and collisions with pedestrians. In 2022, there were 17 accidents, leading to one death and 20 injuries. The numbers rose in 2023 with 46 accidents, five fatalities, and 47 injuries. In 2024, 58 crashes were recorded, resulting in three deaths and 100 injuries. The highest number was in 2025, with 120 accidents.

## Regulatory Measures

The UAE has implemented regulatory frameworks for e-scooter use, specifying technical standards and usage conditions. Authorities continue to promote safety campaigns, urging riders to adhere to traffic rules, use designated lanes, and maintain safe speeds in crowded areas.
