## Regional Dividend Overview

In the first quarter of 2026, companies in the Middle East distributed $29.2 billion in dividends. Saudi Arabia was the largest contributor, accounting for nearly 84% of this total. The UAE followed with $1.7 billion in payouts, although this was lower than the previous year due to changes in the payment schedule of Dubai Islamic Bank.

## Global Dividend Trends

Globally, dividends rose by 10.1% year-on-year, reaching $424.5 billion. This growth occurred despite economic challenges such as rising interest rates and geopolitical uncertainties. The United States led in both dividends and share buybacks, with $183.5 billion in dividends and $266.7 billion in buybacks.

## Sector Contributions

Financial companies were the top contributors to global dividends and buybacks, distributing $90.8 billion in dividends. Basic materials companies saw the fastest growth in dividend payments, driven by demand for minerals like copper and lithium.

## Future Outlook

Janus Henderson forecasts an 8.3% growth in global dividends for 2026, while buybacks are expected to decline slightly. Despite potential challenges, resilient earnings continue to support a positive dividend outlook.
