Saudi Arabia sets 90-day limit on stay of Gulf-registered vehicles

## New Regulations for Gulf-Registered Vehicles

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new rule limiting the stay of vehicles registered in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to 90 days within a year. This decision, approved by the Council of Ministers, aims to enhance oversight and curb traffic violations.

## Implementation Details

The 90-day period applies to any 365-day timeframe, whether the days are consecutive or spread out. The count begins when the vehicle enters Saudi Arabia through any customs port. This regulation targets vehicles owned by Saudi citizens, expatriates, and authorized users, but excludes those rented from licensed GCC companies.

## Extension and Enforcement

Vehicle owners or authorized drivers can apply for an extension before the 90-day limit is reached. The Ministry of Interior will evaluate these requests individually, determining necessary documentation and procedures. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority will assist by providing vehicle data to support enforcement.

## Penalties for Non-Compliance

Exceeding the permitted stay will result in penalties under Saudi traffic law. The governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority will issue executive decisions to ensure the regulations are implemented effectively, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
